Ministry of Higher Education & Highways Sri Lanka Scholarship Description:

The government of Sri Lanka Scholarship Programs for Undergraduates has announced Ministry of Higher Education & Highways Sri Lanka Scholarships. The candidates can study undergraduates degrees in Medical, Dental Sciences and Engineering for the year 2017-18.

Available Scholarships / Field of Study: The following scholarships are available in the undergraduate field of study:

  1. Medical Sciences
  2. Dental Science
  3. Engineering

Scholarship Location: Sri Lanka

Educational Qualification Required:

  1. Candidates applying must have at least 70% in HSC, SSC, O&A-Levels.
  2. The academic certificates should be certified by the respective board.
  3. Applicants are advised to attach to their applications the original letter obtained from the Examinations Board concerned, to prove that their educational qualifications are equivalent to the G.C.E (A/L) Examination of Sri Lanka or their educational qualifications are considered for admission to a university in their own country to follow an undergraduate course of study leading to a Bachelor’s Degree.

Eligibility Age: 18 – 22 Years.

Eligibility Criteria:

    1. Candidates of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
  • Candidates are required not to leave any question unanswered in the application form. Questions that do not imply on you should be mentioned as N/A.

Scholarship Benefits:

  1. No tuition fees.
  2. No registration fees.
  3. Free study visa.
  4. Free medical facilities at government hospitals other than dental services.
  5. Reimbursement of cost of airfare (economy class) from Sri Lanka and return to home country after the successful completion of studies [Payment shall be made on the availability of original bills only.]
  6. All the allowance paid will be made in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR).
  7. One-off settlement allowance of LKR 10,000/-.         
  8. Monthly living allowance of LKR 30, 000/- for the study period.
  9. It is expected that the scholarship recipient will meet the expenditure for food and accommodation with the monthly allowance of LKR 30,000/- The relevant university / higher educational institute will assist in finding suitable accommodation.

Application Procedure:

    1. Application form can be downloaded from the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways website, i.e.; http://www.mohe.gov.lk.
    2. The candidates should download the Sri Lankan application forms from the following website; http://www.mohe.gov.lk/index.php/en/scholaships/foreign-students/100-scholarships-for-foreign-students and apply online on the HEC website; http://eportal.hec.gov.pk/loa.
    3. The applicants should submit 3 sets of Srilankan application (1 original) and required documents with hard copies of HEC form in spiral binding.
  • A deposit slip of PKR. 300/- should be printed online from the HEC website and paid online through HEC Online Account No. 17427900133401 at HBL, Shalimar Recording Company Branch, H-9, Islamabad.
  1. Attested copies of the following educational documents should be submitted with the application form:
  • CNIC
  • B-Form
  • Domicile
  • IBCC equivalency certificate
  • IELTS / TOEFL Results
  • Original Medical Certificate to be attached to HEC application form
  • Original bank deposit slip

Documents Required:

  1. 3 copies Sri Lankan and HEC application forms in spiral binding.
  2. SSC Certificate with IBCC attestation OR O-Level Certificate (Science Group) with IBCC equivalence
  3. HSC Certificate with IBCC attestation/A-Level Certificate (Pre-Medical) with IBCC equivalence
  4. 10 recent attested passport size recent photograph
  5. Birth Certificate issued by NADRA only, attested by issuing authority
  6. Father or Guardian’s CNIC copy.
  7. Attested copy of Domicile.
  8. Photocopy of valid passport (validity more than 06 months)
  9. Original Medical Certificate issued by District Head Quarter Government Hospital and further attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) at their respective provincial headquarter offices or Islamabad.
  10. Certified copy of IELTS / TOEFL certificate.
  11. Certified copy of the data page of applicant’s passport. (The validity of the passport shall remain at least for 2 years after arrival to Sri Lanka.)
  12. Certified copies of the Birth certificates of parents.
  13. Police clearance report.
